Service Oriented Architecture staat volop in de belangstelling en veel IT leveranciers promoten hun SOA oplossingen via diverse kanalen. Wat hierbij belangrijk is, is om te onderkennen dat SOA geen technologie oplossing onder de IT motorkap is maar dat service orientatie een manier van inrichten en vormgeven van de organisatie is en derhalve een inrichtingsstijl van de Enterprise. ING Card built an application for its customer base that enables it to link to new websites, implement new product features, and maintain credit scoring rules, easily and quickly. It achieved this by applying three construction principles, one of which was service orientation. This article describes the application, and explains how SOA helped to meet the business needs of a credit card issuer with particular challenges.
