De roep om veel aandacht te besteden aan 'requirements'analyse om risico's te minimaliseren en tot de juiste architectuur keuzes te komen, kan ik geheel onderschrijven. Echter, het vraagstuk is iets complexer dan uit deze korte notitie moge lijken. Net zoals het ontwerp van complexe automatiseringsomgevingen een gelaagd proces is, wanneer correct uitgevoerd, moet dit ook het geval zijn bij de 'opbouw' van de requirements voor een nieuwe of te veranderen set van systemen. Het is daarbij de 'kunst' de requirements (van globaal naar zeer gedetailleerd) in de juiste laag te groeperen zodat een weloverwogen AFBAKENING van de nieuwe omgeving ontstaat. Als leidraad zou je daarbij steeds de requirements om een proces of activiteit te ondersteunen moeten MINIMALISEREN. Met overigens de optie tot latere uitbreiding, mits mogelijk binnen de afbakening van een hogere laag. Nog zelden heb ik dit tot in perfectie uitgevoerd zien worden, maar waarschijnlijk zou het veel projecten tot een kwart van hun huidige omvang reduceren.
