n response to 'Furthermore, the "design-oriented perspective" often also serves to regulate lower-level decisions, e.g. in a stepwise refinement, and thus becomes part of the "regulation-oriented perspective".':
This is absolutely right! I believe that moving from architecture to engineering, one will elaborate/refine on each of these three perspectives. At architecture level one will have regulations in the form of architecture principles, design artefacts such as ArchiMate models, and associated patterns. When moving to the engineering level, the regulations perspective will be enriched by general principles of sound engineering (referred to as professional principles as Martin Op't Land), as well as more detailed "engineering" regulations. The design oriented perspective and patterns oriented perspective will obviously also see refinement.
In other words, I think the three perspectives are like three "streams" that should be consistent amongst each other, while being refined when moving from architecting to engineering.
I also have a hypothesis on defining the borderline between architecting and engineering, using a goal-oriented approach .... to be worked out in a future blog entry.
